“We need to touch every child’s life so that they have the positive, almost mentoring, support to know that they are valued and that people are listening to them so they feel important.” -Governor John Baldacci (D-ME), In Baldacci promoting dropout prevention, The Bangor Daily News, December 6, 2007
The ALASA Academy After School Program is designed for Wayne County children in grades K-9. Conducted by certified, experienced teachers in small staff/student ratio, the program will be a unique alternative to standard after-school programs. It will include outdoor group experiences and hands-on activities, visits with farm animals, academic enrichment, homework support, study skill development, individual skill development and weekly presenters and projects. Program activities will encourage children to pursue personal interests, challenge them with problem-solving activities, help them gain self-esteem and confidence and promote their growth in many different learning environments. The After School Program will be available from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays and will follow the Sodus School District calendar.
