”Creativity is indispensable in today’s world. Children need to practice creative skills in schools to become the source of innovation to drive the economy of the future.” - State Representative Dan Bosley (D-MA) in Creative thinking in the classroom, The Boston Globe, February 23, 2008.
The follwing is a story in pictures and words of a student who applied herself at an ALASA Academy Workshop and created something truly special!

She accepts and has a discussion with peers and adults.

Stephanie begins work, using a tool she has just learned to use.

A little help from a friend goes a long way.

Stephanie listens to some expert advice.

She applies what she has heard and seen.

As you might see, Stephanie has built a bluebird house. But the experience does not end with just a wooden bluebird house. Stephanie and the other students are encouraged to be creative with their birdhouse and make it their own. As you can see, she only needed a tiny nudge! She drew and then painted every side of her birdhouse.

If you are impressed with what Stephanie was able to accomplish in a couple of days, imagine what she can achieve in 180 days. That is what we are striving for at ALASA Academy. Stephanie even applied previous knowledge by painting bird species that live in her geographical area.

Stephanie should be very proud of herself!
This is only one of the many stories that need to be told about the great things that happen at ALASA Academy. And there are many more that are waiting to unfold. Make a donation to sponsor a child and help build ALASA Academy personally.
