The Alternative Learning Academy for Student Achievement, Inc. is better known as ALASA Academy. ALASA Academy is a not for profit organization dedicated to the nurturing and development of Wayne County, New York children. It was started by a small group of educators, parents and community representatives in 2003 to build personalized, creative, challenging, hands-on learning experiences for children in a bully-free, natural environment.
We believe that our children deserve the diverse opportunities that children in more urban and wealthier areas have.
Our programming is located on the Alasa Farms in Alton, New York which is a 700 acre working farm located on the shores of Sodus Bay.
As ALASA Academy moves forward with business development and applying for certification as a learning facility by New York State Education Department, children’s programs are already in place.
Currently, ALASA provides Children’s Summer Workshops for 3 weeks in July and a Fall Family Camping Weekend the last weekend in September. These offerings integrate exciting activities, problem-solving skills, personal growth, team-building skills with academics and community service to expose children to new and unique experiences.
Working cooperatively with the local schools, ALASA Academy also provides Field Trip opportunities for children in the same environment coordinating the experience with school curriculums.
Future growth includes plans for an After-School Program and, if local needs support it, a year-round learning facility with expanded educational workshops and programs. ALASA Academy’s success depends on the continued generous support of local communities, businesses and individuals.
