About ALASA Academy!

About ALASA Academy!“I believe every child is born with a special gift, destined to make a unique contribution to the world that only he or she can make. Through education we must support and cultivate each child’s potential to make their contribution. Our success in this effort will ensure that every child’s life will be a success story and the cherished American dream a possibility that will be within every child’s grasp no matter where they live or what school they attend. It is only when we ensure that we have educated each child that we will know that we are building a nation that will be strong, secure and competitive in the global marketplace for a long time to come.” - Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY), Ranking Member of the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, February 2006

The Alternative Learning Academy for Student Achievement, Inc. is better known as ALASA Academy. ALASA Academy is a not for profit organization dedicated to the nurturing and development of Wayne County, New York children. It was started by a small group of educators, parents and community representatives in 2003 to build personalized, creative, challenging, hands-on learning experiences for children in a bully-free, natural environment.

We believe that our children deserve the diverse opportunities that children in more urban and wealthier areas have.

Our programming is located on the Alasa Farms in Alton, New York which is a 700 acre working farm located on the shores of Sodus Bay.

Currently, ALASA provides Children’s Summer Workshops for 3 weeks in July and a Fall Family Camping Weekend the last weekend in September. These offerings integrate exciting activities, problem-solving skills, personal growth, team-building skills with academics and community service to expose children to new and unique experiences.

Working cooperatively with the local schools, ALASA Academy also provides Customized Workshop opportunities for children in the same environment coordinating the experience with school curriculums.

Future growth includes plans for an After-School Program and, if local needs support it, a year-round learning facility with expanded educational workshops and programs. ALASA Academy’s success depends on the continued generous support of local communities, businesses and individuals.
