Founded in 2003, the Alternative Learning Academy for Student Achievement, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the nurturing and development of Wayne County, New York children. It was started by a small group of educators, parents and community members to build personalized, creative, challenging, hands-on learning experiences for children in a bully-free, natural environment. At ALASA Academy we strive to ensure that every child's life will be a success story no matter where they live or what school they attend. Our programming is located at the 200+ acre Beechwood State Park (Camp Beechwood)located on the shores of Lake Ontario near Great Sodus Bay in Sodus, NY.

Current offerings include week-long Children's Summer Day Camps that integrate outdoor activities with problem solving, personal growth and team-building skills with academics and community service. The ALASA staff focuses on the excitement children bring and experience during their week-long adventures at Camp Beechwood. From kayaking, fishing, trailblazing, shore exploration, crafts and animals in nature to learning camping skills, making their own campfire dinner and just "being" in nature, everyone finds a favorite "thing" to enjoy at ALASA Summer Day Camps. Working cooperatively with local schools and community organizations, we also provide a Fall Family Camping Weekend and Customized Workshops opportunities for children in the same environment coordinating the experiences with school curriculums and community organization goals.
