Founded in 2003, the Alternative Learning Academy for Student Achievement, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the nurturing and development of Wayne County, New York children. It was started by a small group of educators, parents and community members to build personalized, creative, challenging, hands-on learning experiences for children in a bully-free, natural environment. At ALASA Academy we strive to ensure that every child's life will be a success story no matter where they live or what school they attend. For 2010 our programming will be located at the 200+ acre Beechwood State Park on the shores of Lake Ontario near Great Sodus Bay in Sodus, NY. Current offerings include week-long Children's Summer Workshops and a Fall Family Camping Weekend. All programs integrate exciting activities, problem-solving, personal growth and team-building skills with academics and community service. Working cooperatively with local schools and community organizations, we also provide Customized Workshops opportunities for children in the same environment coordinating the experiences with school curriculums and community organization goals. Enjoy our website. We look forward to hearing from you! NOTE: New 2010 Brochures and Forms are available on-line NOW: Program Offerings / Summer Workshop / Fall Camping Weekend / Workshop Registration and Medical Forms. Hi Everyone, We are working fererishly to clean up brush and freshen up the areas we will be using at our new home at Beechwood. So, if you have any time to come visit the Park and help us a little, here is the New Volunteer Form that we must use when working there. If you think there is any chance that you will be coming to help sometime this coming year, please download the form and send to me ASAP. Thanks so much, Sharon Maher |
